One Day Tour of Maribor Surrounding Area

Morning departure. Driving to Svecina. Stop at Deisiebner vinery. They are known as a producer of fresh fruity wines with nicely expressed varietal characteristics. On vinery is a photoshuting point worldwide known as Heart in the middle of vineyards.
Driving to Sladki Vrh. First stop will be on cable ferry on river Mura. Ferry represented trafic conection between Austria and Slovenija. Cable ferry conecting Mura coasts allready 150 years and its today one of 4 rest cable ferries, who are still in use on Mura. Driving with ferry. Next stop will be Zgornja Velka. Visiting church Our Lady of snows. Meeting with the priest. Priest will explain the history of the curch. During his presentation you will be served with a glas of wine. Driving to Austrian small town Ratchendorf. You will visit the exhibition of Chopper motorbikes, military vehicles, fighter jet. On estate you will see also Lamas and Camels. Our next stop will be local beekeeper. He will introduce you his work an you can taste some products.
Driving to the Kauran Winery for late lunch. Kauran Winery is on the top on one of many hills in Slovenske gorice with a great view. On clear weather day you can see the austrian Alps, Pohorje and also to the Croatia. As welcome you will be offered with glass of sparkling wine and »ocvirkovka«. After welcome drink follows lunch:
- Cold appetizer – home made smoked meat, salami, cheese, different spreads
- Beef soup with home made noodles
- Pork roast, filled chicken leg, roast potatoes, rice
- Salad
- Cheesecake, coffee
In wine cellar you will have a wine tasting of 5 sorts of wine. Ater wine tasting and late lunch transfer to Maribor.

One Day Tour of Slovenia

Early morning departure from meeting point in Maribor. Driving to the North West of the country. The Alpine region lies between the Julian Alps and the Karavanke high peaks. We’ll make our first stop at Bled, the magnificent alpine village with a mountain lake and a tiny island in the middle, and admire the amazing view from the old castle up on the cliff. A challenge for your eyes and your body awaits you on the island where a temple of the Slavic goddess of love Ziva used to stand. A glorious gothic church takes its place nowadays. To reach the ancient glory on the island we recommend you to take a special boat called »pletna«. We will continue to the breathtaking beauty of Bled’s Vintgar gorge, where we’ll take a short walk through the national park. Ride to Begunje. Visiting Avsenik museum. Avsenik family members are composers of world greatest hits of folk music. Their greatest hit is Na Golici. After visiting museum organized lunch in Avsenik guesthouse. They offer you slovenian menu:
- Beef soup with home made noodles or Pea cream soup
- Beef roast in plum sauce or Pork filet with bacon in mushroom sauce
- Roast potatoes or Cottage cheese »struklji« or Roasted vegetables
- Apple strudel with vanilla sauce and cinnamon ice cream
After lunch we will take a ride to Ljubljana. Ljubljana our capital city. Start the city tour that consists of a walk around the old city center and a funicular railway ride to the castle hill. After an ascent to Ljubljana Castle’s outlook tower with a beautiful panoramic view of the city, we descend the hill on foot to the old city center. We’ll pass the Town Hall and continue through the historical city centre, well known for its unique architectural appearance, which is the result of the legacy of the Baroque and Art Nouveau periods and, most notably, the work of the famous 20th century architect Jože Plečnik. Returning to Maribor.

Day 1, Saturday, 09. 09. 2023: MARIBOR – PLANICA – BLED – BEGUNJE – LJUBLJANA

We’ll make our first stop in Planica. Magnificent nordic center with »queen« of Flying Hills – 250 m Gorisek Brothers Flying Hill. Visiting Nordic center museum. After visiting Blanica ride to Bled. Short walk on the shore of the lake Bled. Ride with special boat called pletna boat to the island of Bled. Short stop on the island where a temple of the Slavic goddess of love Ziva used to stand. A glorious gothic church takes its place nowadays. Ride to Begunje. Visiting Avsenik museum. Avsenik family members are composers of world greatest hits of folk music. Day 2, Sunday, 10. 09. 2023: LJUBLJANA – KOPER – PIRAN – POSTOJNSKA JAMA – PREDJAMSKI GRAD – MARIBOR
Breakfast. Morning departure to coast region. First we will visit Koper. Our greatest port with magnificent old town. Short walk through old town. Our next stop will be Piran, the Slovenian medieval coastal jewel. The main square is named after Giuseppe Tartini, a famous violinist and a composer who was born in Piran. On the hill above the square you can see the signature Church of Saint George, who is also the patron saint of the town. The small town is still partially surrounded by a typically Venetian wall which used to serve as protection of this marine and salt trade hub in the Bay of Piran. Time for individual lunch. After Lunch we will take a ride to Postojna, where you will visit famous Postojna cave, one of the largest and most beautiful Karst sights in Europe. Postojna Cave and its exciting interior will take you on a fantastic journey beneath the surface of the Earth. Thus, it is no wonder that it has, during the 200 years since it was opened to the public, hosted over 38 million visitors from all over the world. We will continue the tour to the medieval fairytale Predjama Castle, located in its dramatic setting, perched proudly on its 123-metre cliff. In the past, the castle provided the venue for the filming of several science documentaries and feature films. A few years ago, the castle was visited by a Discovery Channel team that was in search of any unexplained events and managed to capture a number of visual images and sounds that could not be quite clearly specified. In 1986, Predjama Castle was one of the filming locations of the film Armour of God with Jackie Chan in the starring role. Returning to Maribor.
